Carefully remove protruding and loose pieces of glass with the razor blade. Do not unnecessarily increase the extent of the damage. Attach the applicator base (b) to the windshield using the suction cups. Make sure that the center ring of the applicator base (b) is cantered over the damaged area. The suction cups must not be placed on fine cracks. (The suction cup legs are adjustable).
Screw the repair resin container (c) into the center ring of the applicator base (b). Tighten the repair resin container (c) by turning clockwise. Make sure that the rubber seal at the bottom of the repair resin container (c) is completely against the windshield but do not apply too much pressure. Excessive pressure will restrict the flow of the repair resin and the effectiveness of the repair.
Cut off only the sealed tip of the thin end of the repair resin bottle (a). Place 3 to 6 drops of the repair resin in the repair resin container (c), the quantity used depends on the extent of damage. If the resin escapes from the bottom of the repair resin container (c) carefully turn it clockwise, just enough to stop any leakage.
Screw the pressure plunger (d) clockwise into the repair resin container (c) to push the resin into the damaged area. Tighten until the pressure plunger (d) is almost completely screwed in. From the inside of the car, check to confirm that the rubber seal opening below the repair resin container (c) is wide open. Allow the repair resin time to fully penetrate the crack/chip [4 to 6 minutes, depending on the extent of damage]. If the repair resin has not reached all the damaged areas, heat the inside of the windshield gently(!) using a hair dryer.
Unscrew the pressure plunger (d) and remove it from the repair resin container (c) to release the air trapped in the chamber. If necessary, add a few more drops of the repair resin to the resin container. Reinsert the pressure plunger (d) and re-tighten it to displace any air remaining in the damaged area. To determine whether the repair resin has been absorbed into the damage, look at the glass from an angle of about 45°. Make sure that no air bubbles remain in the damaged area. For cracking and stone chipping, inspect the glass directly behind the damaged area from inside the vehicle. Areas that have not been properly repaired will appear as dark [green or black] areas. If damage is still evident repeat steps 4 and 5 until the desired result is achieved. Make sure that there is still enough repair resin in the repair resin container (c).
Once the air has been completely expelled turn the repair resin container (c) and the pressure plunger (d) together half a turn to the left [counterclockwise]. Remove the entire unit by lifting the small tabs on the suction cups of the applicator base (b). Carefully wipe any excess repair resin from the repair resin container (c) with a clean paper towel to prevent it from running down the windshield. Apply a drop of the repair resin to any areas where damage can still be seen and cover with a curing film. No pressure is required when applying the curing film to the repaired area.
When the entire process is complete, place the car [windshield] directly in the sun to cure the repair resin. Allow the repair resin to cure completely (about 10-15 minutes), then remove the curing film. The repair resin must be completely dry and cured. Only then remove the excess hardened resin with the razor blade. If damage is still evident apply a small drop of the repair resin directly to the damaged area. Cover the area with a curing film as described in Step 6. If necessary, clean the window with a glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth (not included). A small, matte dot usually remains visible. This is a technical consequence, not a defect. The vehicle is now ready for use.
Stone chips in the windshield can quickly become a major problem. Small stones often fall from trucks in front or are thrown through the air by the tires of another vehicle. If they strike a windshield, it can cause spalling, known as a bullseye or star-shaped crack in the windshield.
But beware: Moisture can penetrate into the broken area and significantly worsen the damage. Even a small chip can quickly lead to larger cracks or the failure of an entire windshield – especially with fluctuating temperatures or driving over bumps and uneven surfaces.
A complete window replacement can, however, be expensive, especially if there is no comprehensive insurance. In addition, the repair time, in which you do without your vehicle or you have to rent a replacement vehicle, must be considered. It is therefore certainly not a mistake to look for alternatives first.
